What is sake

Sake that can be enjoyed hot or cold. In recent years, there is a wide variety of sake, including sake developed for the younger generation, women, and overseas.

Sake must be made with white rice, fermented and matured with koji and water, and must contain alcohol. Sake is made by adding koji and water to steamed white rice and fermenting it.

Sake is commonly referred to simply as sake, but in ancient times it was called sasa, and in the English-speaking world it is sometimes referred to as “Japanese rice wine”. However, nowadays it is becoming more common to simply say “sake”.
